About the case that the speaker did not make sound in Ubuntu LTS 20.04

This is the first post. I'm afraid I'm afraid, but I hope it helps.

I recently started using Ubuntu 20.04 and had a problem with no sound even though the speakers were recognized. I was in great trouble.

The speaker I'm using is a JBL Pebbles USB connection that doesn't require any special driver settings.

After connecting, it was recognized on the sound settings, and there should be sound on the volume bar, but it was a strange phenomenon that no sound was actually output from the speaker.

Solution

From the conclusion, I used alsamixer. Execute the following command. sudo alsamixer Then the following screen will appear. Screenshot from 2020-08-10 15-47-00.png

Depending on the environment, one of several sound cards should be selected. Press F6 to select the sound card. This time, select JBL Pebbles.

Screenshot from 2020-08-10 15-47-50.png In my case, the PCM regulation value on the output side was 0 (Mute), so I turned up the volume as shown in the image above. (As an aside, since the original volume of JBL is extremely loud, setting it low here makes it easier to adjust.)

After that, press the esc key to finish the setting.
