[JAVA] Popular programming language ranking

Introduction

A company called TIOBE Software in the Netherlands publishes the TIOBE Index, a popular ranking of programming languages. It seems that this is calculated by (the number of searches) of major search engines such as Google on the Internet.

Status in April 2015

When I looked at the situation after a long time, it looked like the one below.

alt

As a big change, Java has surpassed C to take first place. Is this a reaction to the increase in C ++? The long-term downtrend in Java does not seem to have changed.

Objecttive C grew sharply, but the decline was also sharp. Maybe it's because iOS-related development has come to an end and many people have moved to Swift.

At the bottom, Visual Basic is still working hard. This Visual Basic, but it probably includes VBA and so on. It seems that VBA development is still quite common, and there are many job offers in Japan. VB.NET is very expensive, but it seems that there are quite a few migrations from Visual Basic 6.0, which is no longer supported in Japan, and we often see job offers.

Detailed situation

It's a detailed situation, but the top is like this.

You can see that Delphi / Object-Pascal is at the top. In Japan, when it peaks out long ago and it becomes a new development, is it sometimes a simulation application that requires execution speed and graphical display?

You don't often see it in MATLAB or in Japan unless you are in a research institute or university, but there is a lot of demand overseas. ABAP also rarely sees domestic jobs.

R has risen to 19th place, but as demand for big data is increasing, there may be more jobs in Japan.

It's 20th or lower, but it looks like this. There are quite a few languages I haven't seen much. When it comes to this area, the ranking is less than 1%, so it doesn't really matter which is the top and which is the bottom. It seems that ancient languages such as COBOL, FORTRAN, Lisp, Ada, and RPG are still used.
