1. Introduction 2. Production background 3. Conclusion
In yesterday's article (Personal App Development Diary # 1), I was about to refrain from changing jobs. I gave an overview of the apps that are being produced as a portfolio. And this time, we will dig deeper into "Why did you come to make this app"!
By deepening my reflection and understanding, I would like to make use of it in future application production. Since the content is personal, the reproducibility may be low, but from the production background I hope it will be helpful for those who are worried or in trouble in the process leading up to application development.
When creating an app as a portfolio, at first I had no idea what to make. Often, the portfolio is a modified version of the school graduation assignment "Flea Market App Clone". I knew through media such as Twitter that many people would submit.
I myself am a beginner, so I am not in a position to give any opinions on the above, but if I make it with all my might I intended to start a new business (exaggerated?), And I had a strong desire to start from 0! That said, whether you've had a special life experience or overwhelming knowledge, I didn't have an outstanding creativity, so I spent about a month sickening without coming up with ideas.
I tried to analyze the cause in my own way, but unknowingly "an unspecified number of magnificent people" I felt that it was because I had set it as a target. I use it on a daily basis I think it's because most of the general things are popular with apps and services. Therefore, we will solve some problems of "people close to us" instead of "unspecified majority". Or I came to want to make something that enriches my life as much as possible.
Looking around, my mother is currently moving to Oita prefecture due to her father's convenience. I learned that I don't know anyone around me and I live with loneliness every day. Since I reached the 60th birthday last year, I hesitated to show up at local events and events because I was concerned about my age. He seemed to be in trouble because he wanted to be like a mom friend of the same age.
Also, my cousin is a freshman in college, but due to the influence of the new coronavirus, events such as entrance ceremonies and new joy are held. With everything online, I couldn't make friends at college and lost sight of the meaning of going to college. He envisioned making many friends and enjoying his student life in a glamorous way.
Listening to these two stories, I noticed a common problem. That is, "I want to connect with people, but I am not blessed with opportunities." The moment I realized that, I decided to make it the theme of the app.
The reason is that I originally liked talking to people, and my part-time job in college was also the catering staff of a luxury city hotel. I was experiencing a tavern hall. And I have been in the sales position for about 9 years as a company employee (still working). I am grateful that I have been blessed with the people around me since I was a student, and I want to work on themes related to people. I had a vague feeling, so I enjoyed the feeling that the dots were connected to form a line. (Speaking of Steve Jobs, it's "Connecting Dots" lol)
So, when I sort out the problems again, "I want to connect with people, but I am not blessed with opportunities." As a solution, I thought, "Provide an opportunity to easily connect with people." So, I came up with a "matching app for finding friends". What you can do with targets and apps has already been explained in yesterday's article (Personal app development diary # 1), so I will omit it.
The catch phrase is "Make connections closer", but even existing apps I felt that there was something similar. If it's a system that connects with people or something that focuses on people, Facebook, Twitter, video / live distribution (TikTok, SHOWROOM, etc.) came to my mind. If you make it with great effort, some value that cannot be covered by existing apps will be a differentiating factor I thought it would be. In the next article, we will consider comparison and analysis with existing apps!
