Hello. It's been about half a month since I started programming Saya. I don't know right or left, but is Linux the natural OS for engineers? I heard the rumor that Not if you're happy with Progate! I hurriedly downloaded and installed CentOS 8 on my Macbook air using VirtualBox.
Why does almost nothing come out the moment I search for CentOS, which is a lot of programming information on Youtube etc.? Should I search for Linux?
Am I doing something wrong? Although I was worried, I read the Linux standard textbook recommended by my seniors and decided to download CentOS.
However, there is a big wall for me who can only do everything by imitating the appearance ... It seems that the version has been upgraded even though it is CentOS 8 recently, and the above textbook did not mention version 8 ... I don't know everything anymore, but I was angry and decided to download it because I was wondering if the version had changed for the time being!
I searched for a site that has easy-to-understand procedures. There were some, but I would like to introduce the ones that I used as a reference.
・ [[ISO image] CentOS [GUI] was started with VirtualBox! !! !! ] (https://note.com/tango9512357/n/n6372aeb653db "[ISO image] I started CentOS [GUI] with VirtualBox !! ") -[Install CentOS 8 on VirtualBox on Mac and build a learning environment](https://bbbbruno.qrunch.io/entries/bIPvvDW3wwQ7LNsO "Install CentOS 8 on VirtualBox on Mac and build a learning environment" ")
After successfully downloading (I'll explain later, but I didn't), I thought I'd start a virtual machine with VirtualBox ...
After downloading CentOS, I created a virtual machine with VirtualBox and selected the boot hard disk, but I ran into the problem that there was no boot hard disk.
I wondered why, and when I tried to open the download file, it was empty ... First of all, the download was not done properly. For the first time, I learned that it takes less than 30 minutes to download ... What's more, I get a "failure" in the middle of downloading, but if I don't press it again and press it myself, it will end without downloading. Is it a problem with the specifications of the computer?
Even so, when I managed to reach the installation and finally felt relieved that it was over ... I rebooted after installation, but then I got the following error message.
「You must specify a machine to start, using the command line.
Usage: VirtualBoxVM --startvm <name|UUID> Starts the VirtualBox virtual machine with the given name or unique identifier (UUID).」
I searched a lot, but I don't know how to solve it ... By the way, I arrived at the following page, but I didn't know what to do when I saw the answer (crying).
Virtualbox cannot be started. .. ..
Still, I did not give up, and when I was searching, I found the following page !!!!
Cannot create Virtualbox virtual machine on Mac.
As you answered here ** Disable audio in VM settings ** As a result of doing that, I was able to use CentOS safely !!!
Thank you to those who asked and answered !!!!!!
The article that led to the above solution also uses Ubuntu instead of CentOS. It may not be much different, but I thought it would be difficult to reach the answer even though there was so much information.
As a beginner, I experienced for the first time that it would be difficult to reach such an answer, so I wrote this article with the hope that even one beginner who is struggling with the same problems can be saved. .. It may be too low for seniors (laughs) I will grow more and output the technology !!!
By the way, I had a little trouble writing this Qiita article (laughs). Is there a way to change the font size? Am I the only one who doesn't come up even if I search normally? Changing the font size will be the next task ...
