Steps to install Pinebook Pro's default OS (Manjaro KDE Edition) on eMMC

(Preparation) Downloading the image for eMMC installation and writing to microSD

After 20.04, an image for eMMC installation will be provided. This eliminates the need to write to the eMMC using the dd command.

Download image for eMMC installation

  1. Open the following site: https://forum.manjaro.org/t/manjaro-arm-20-04-released/133374
  2. Downloads: >> Pinebook Pro >> KDE Plasma 20.04 >> Manjaro-ARM-kde-plasma-pbpro-20.04-emmc-installer-20.04.img.xz
  3. Extract the .xz file to get the .img file

Write the eMMC installation image to the microSD

  1. Format the microSD with SDCardFormatter
  2. Burn the .img file to the microSD with etcher

(Working with Pinebook Pro actual machine) Installation procedure

1.Insert the microSD with the image for eMMC installation and start it.>>LED lights orange>>LED lights green
2.The manjaro logo comes out and spins around>> [ESC]Press to proceed (this is a known bug)

Currently, the booted sdcard is at "mmcblk1" >>The number is different from the SD card"mmkclk2"Select (This is eMMC)[OK]

#Image deployment phase
#This extact operation only occurs the first time. Since the expanded image is reused from the second time onward, it is omitted.
==> Extracting XZ Image. This will take some time (10-20 minutes)......(Wait for about 5 minutes)
==> Extract finished >> Press any key to continue: >> [enter]

#Write phase to eMMC
==> Flashing Image to eMMC. This will take some time (5-10 minutes)...... >>(Wait for about 90 seconds)
Flash Complete >> Press any key to continue >> [enter]
Flash is complete. The system will shut down so you can remove the SDCard >> [OK]
Power off in 5 seconds... >>Power off

3.Unplug the microSD and boot>>LED lights orange>>LED lights green>>Manjaro logo round and round

5.The login screen appears

About changing the default OS of Pinebook Pro

Since March 2020, the default OS has been Manjaro KDE Edition.
