Install simplescreen recorder
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:maarten-baert/simplescreenrecorder
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install simplescreenrecorder
Install the following to play .vlc files (if needed)
apt install ubuntu-restricted-extras
